Take a walk on the wild side!
Knowing that some of you have neither the time nor the inclination for long trekking holidays but would still like to explore some of the world’s most beautiful, remote and interesting mountain ranges in a more active way, we have put together a portfolio of stunning walking trips and multi-activity trips.
Anyone familiar with Eric Newby’s travel classic A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush will know that short does not necessarily mean easy and that walk is something of an understatement. Although anyone in a good state of health should be able to cope with most of these trips, all of them will have you going home feeling like you have had a real adventure.
And although one or two run for two weeks or more - such as in the amazing Afghan Wakhan Corridor Trek - most have a duration of only a week making them perfect for anyone with time restrictions.
And in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan we have developed an amazing multi-activity adventure, where you will be buzzing in a helicopter one minute and glacier trekking the next, white-water rafting in the morning and riding horses in the afternoon. Designed, it should be made clear, to satisfy the rather excessive energy levels of some of our guides, this trips give you culture, adventure and an adrenalin rush to boot!
In 2010 we will be running Wild Walks and Activity Trips in the Georgian Caucasus, the Indian Himalayas, the Afghan Hindu Kush, Central Asia, the Simiens of Ethiopia, Iran's Talesh region and the Taurus Mountains in Central Turkey.
In 2011 we are planning a new trek in Ladakh's Nubra Valley and a mega walk to the Crystal Mountian in Nepal's remote Dolpo Region... watch this space!
